When do you ads run?  Are you open and answering the phones?  Or are you wasting clicks to get callers when you have an answering machine or a terrible answering service.

Negative Keywords Ideas

Every good adwords campaign should have a nice long list of “negative” keywords.  These are words that will not cause your ads to show.  Lets say you are a Dentist do you want to show your ads for words like “dental scam”, “dental board” or “dental school”?  You should not because these searchers are not looking for your service, why pay for them to click your ad.

Here is a list of keywords I would add to most all campaigns for any type of doctor:

scam

school

board

free

cheap

salary

complaint

Then you should decide do you want to big on your own brand?  If you do then you will pay for existing patients or clients to click on your ads.  Your website seo should get you to #1 for your brand so I rarely agree with brand bidding.

Then you have to decide do you want to bid on your competitors names.  Do you want to get clicks that result in “oh I have the wrong number” calls?  I rarely like to target competitors names.

These are just the tip of the iceberg questions to ask yourself and your adwords provider.  The key to adwords success is to only bid on words that will result in new business for you…
