How to Choose the Top SEO Company
In order to be sure that you work with the BEST SEO company, we created this seo tutorial with a handful of questions you should get answers to. We will decipher what the right (and wrong) answers could mean for your business:
About the Company
How long has the company been in business?
If the company is brand spanking new, you might want to consider someone a bit more established. Newbies aren’t always doing the wrong thing but a start-up comes with snags. You don’t want to be anybody’s guinea pig client.
What is the company’s general reputation?
Cruise ratings on multiple review platforms to determine the company’s general standing. Is there any bad press about the company? This should be seen as a red flag.
Does the company have a good online presence?
Search beyond just the company’s own website. Do they populate many strands of social media? Do they have videos on Vimeo or YouTube? Do they manage their local listings or industry profiles? Can you find any employees on LinkedIn?
What do they offer?
Any company that just offers “SEO” and doesn’t expand upon what that might include is fooling themselves. Don’t let them fool you. They cannot possibly perform optimization without offering an arsenal of services including website maintenance, social media performance, etc. They should also be offering PPC services for interested clients. However, a company who offers advertising of all kinds across all media and dabbles in web development, graphic design, and carpet cleaning might be stretching themselves too thin to become experts in anything. Beware.
About the Website
Does the website appear optimized?
This is kind of a no-brainer. If the company can’t get themselves on page one, where do you suppose you will end up? Also, their website should be populated with proper titles, H1 tags, and all the features you expect to see for your own site.
Is everything easy to find?
Any company who claims to manage web presence should know a thing or two about UX/UI web design. Their website should have clear navigation and be organized. If you have a question you should be able to easily locate your answers or – at very least – the necessary contact information to obtain an answer. You should know how to get started, however, without making a call. It should be as easy as a form.
Does it look and feel good?
Feel the site out. If it doesn’t have that quality texture & look to it, cross that company off the list right now. Even if you manage your own site and just want them to manage the SEO, you should never trust an online company with a junk website. Period.
About the Clients
Does the company have a portfolio?
If the SEO agency won’t tell you who they’ve worked for, or demonstrate what sites they manage, run the other way. There’s ALWAYS a reason!
Are there testimonials for this company? Are clients happy?
Just the same way you shop for a plumber or dentist, you should at least consider what others think who have been where you will be. Too many disgruntled reviewers and there has to be a reason.
